Newark upon Trent is a Medieval market town sitting on the banks of the River Trent and situated in the heart of England.

The original Great North Road, built by the Romans, passed directly through Newark and this gave the town strategically great importance.

With its Civil War connections, 12th Century Castle, ancient cobbled Marketplace, Church of Mary Magdalene, beautiful old buildings steeped in history, Newark is, most certainly, a very interesting place to visit.

It has a full Calendar of Events for the year and there are theatres, museums, award winning eating places and some wonderful and interesting shops to visit.

Newark is also famous for its Antiques Trade and is host to the largest Antiques Fair in Europe which is held every two months at The Newark Showground and at Swinderby.

Newark lies between :-

Southwell, with its magnificent Norman Minster
Nottingham, the home of Robin Hood
Sherwood Forest, with the famous Major Oak
Lincoln, the Roman city and Cathedral
Many traditional villages and hamlets.
